Never ending slip cover

I am done my chair cover!!  Yeah!!!

It has not been difficult, just time consuming.  My sewing machine sits in the corner of the basement and that is where the family congregates and I feel guilty sewing when they are all watching tv.

I finally worked on the next steps - sew the zipper in, sew the pompoms to the bottom, a little pressing and then it is done.  Instead of a simple row of pompoms, I added a patterned ruffle (flounce?!) to the bottom.  Free fabric, free chair, I can change it when I like for a little cost. I am so excited to finish this and move on to other sewing projects.

After that, all I have to do is keep the kids paws off it until I can create a cover for the couch and other chair destined for the living room.
Do you like it?

Way Cool Stool

I love this stool.  I love stools in general.  You can move them here and there depending upon your seating needs.  I look for them on kijji all the time, like every other day.  No joke.

I found this one for $5.00!!  Yes,  so on a dreary Saturday night, I sprung it on Ian that I needed to pick up a stool from some lady who was moving.  It is always cool to get stuff from kijji, it is always a safe bet to bring someone with you.  This day and age and all that.  Sometimes they offer you their other stuff they can't seem to sell.

I have plans not to paint this wood, I am just going to pop off the top, restaple some of my cool patterned fabric to it and call it a day.
I think I have about four metres of this fabric.

Do you have any stools at home you don't want?  Email me,  I am your girl!

Rebekah's Room

My baby is going through a transformation.  She is now a teenager.  Gasp!  How did that happen?

When she was about eight, she looked at her dad with her big eyes and asked him to paint the ceiling in her room dark blue and the walls orange.  Seriously.  Do you remember those sherbet ice creams from Dickee Dee with the blue gumball at the bottom?  Those are the colours of her room. No, I am not posting pictures of  it. You can't make me.

Fast forward a few years and this baby of mine has finally realized that those colours suck.

my personal fav
I am addicted to Amy Butler fabric.  I mean so addicted that I will be attending if  there is a support group for Amy Bulter fabric addicts out there in blogland.

I had originally contemplated recovering my dining room chairs with some of her fabrics. They did not work for the living room, however, some of the Amy Butler will be finding its way to Rebekah's room. The only problem is that the fabric is difficult to get in Canada.  My source - fabric.com (not a paid endorsement, this is just a great site).  There is lots of Amy Butler to go around.  Take a look.

Imagine, a cool room decked out with new curtains, a double bed, new desk and a few lounge chairs.  All of this accented by these Amy Butler fabrics.  I am off to kijji to find those book shelves, and some lounge chairs.  I have some sewing and painting to get at.
